Tasting Notes Ichi ni san shi go roku. That's counting to six in Japanese. And you need to ichi ni san shi go get yourself a bottle of Roku. This Japanese craft gin comes from the illustrious Suntory stable a trail blazer in the malt whisky world. In addition to traditional botanicals - juniper lemon peel bitter orange coriander angelica cardamom and cinnamon - Roku uses six very Japanese botanicals inspired by the four seasons. Sakura (or cherry blossom flowers) and sakura leaf for spring sencha and gyokuro tea for summer fiery sansh? pepper for autumn and yuzu peel for winter. The calligraphy label is printed on washi paper and the bottle is hexagonal to represent the six botanicals; the Japanese attention-to-detail and craftsmanship is apparent before you even open it. Inside it's deep earthy and herbal with a spicy lick of pepper sweet vanilla tangy citrus and a long dry green tea finish.
