Gentler and lighter than many Mezcals Casamigos is a masterclass in elegance brimming with tamarind mango pomegranate smoked peppercorns and wild herbs like mint oregano and thyme. Sip neat to bring out the spice in tacos and quesadillas or mix into your favourite Tequila cocktail recipes to add a smoky dimension. Casamigos Mezcal is made from 100% Espadin agave grown in Oaxaca's Santiago Matatlan - considered the capital of Mezcal country. The hearts or pinas of the agave are split and roasted for five days in underground pits imparting the famed smokiness. These are then cooled and crushed with a horse-drawn tahona wheel made of volcanic rock. The juice is then fermented painstakingly distilled in copper pot stills and filled into these beautiful frosted bottles. Famed for its small-batch ultra-premium Tequila Casamigos has now branched out into Mezcal. Created by long-time friends George Clooney and Rande Gerber this brand has gone from strength to strength in recent years. This was proven to dramatic effect when Casamigos was sold to Diageo for $1 billion - a deal that made George Clooney 2018's highest-paid actor without him really having to make many films. Several years ago George and Rande were introduced to a Mezcal produced by a family who have been mastering their art for five generations. They instantly fell in love with it but kept it on the backburner while concentrating on their Tequila. But now they're ready to unleash it on the world.
