Robert Dowling is an award winning British photographer, known for his work with renowned art director Storm Thorgerson on the artwork for iconic album covers. 'Momentary Lapse of Reason, Maid, Pink Floyd, 1987' is a previously unseen image from the photoshoot for Pink Floyd's 'Momentary Lapse of Reason' album artwork. Drawing on David Gilmour's song lyrics, the beds were chosen to symbolise both 'a vision of an empty bed' and a surrealist visual pun on the 'river bed'. Captured in the days before photoshop and CGI, the impressive image - which sees a maid, surrounded by rows of empty hospital beds on a deserted beach - was entirely staged, earning Dowling a gold award at the Association Of Photographers.
