What's an induction hob? Induction hobs heat the pan not the hob using an electrical current. Induction hobs can heat a pan faster than a traditional gas or electric hob, and are more energy efficient. They're also easier to clean, as you can wipe the hob shortly after using it. Remember, not all ceramic hobs are induction hobs. An induction hob can only be used with induction compatible pans. You can use induction kettles (which are faster to boil than normal kettles) with induction hobs. The fine degree of control over the power of the hob is also good for tasks like melting chocolate or making a sauce. Please note: This product is not available for viewing in our shops but you can still place your order in store. This sleek Miele KM6115 ceramic glass hob with stainless steel rim boasts easy-to-use front-mounted touch controls and both power booster and automatic warm-up functions for super-fast cooking times. It also has residual heat indicators and a keep warm setting. Auto warming All four cooking zones are also equipped with an automatic warm-up function. This sets the cooking zone to the highest setting for an initial period of time and then automatically switches back to the preset cooking temperature. So you can bring a pan of water to the boil before reducing the heat to a simmer without even having to be in the kitchen. And, when you have finished cooking, there's also a keep warm setting, so you can pause until you're ready to serve the food. Control settings There's an LED display for each cooking zone with up to 9 power levels, a three-stage residual heat indicator and a built-in timer. Plus, the hob has a child safety lock and safety cut-out protection for extra peace of mind. Induction technology Ultra-efficient induction works by creating a magnetic field between the hob and steel or iron pan. The heat is instant; it is easily controlled and energy efficient as it heats the pan, not the hob surface. Thanks to this cool-touch, the hob's flat ceramic surface can be simply wiped clean with a damp cloth, even during cooking. Please note: If you have a heart pacemaker, do seek advice from your doctor before using an induction hob. Please also only use pans suitable for induction hobs. These include enamelled steel, iron, stainless steel (depending on the alloy) and some aluminium pans with a ferromagnetic base. Glass and copper bases are unsuitable. Please note: there should be a minimum height clearance of 65cm between an electric hob and the cooker hood above it.
