About Dr Martens
Dr. Martens is one of the world's most recognisable
footwear brands, built around the distinctive air-cushioned
sole, yellow welt stitching, and two-tone grooved edge
that have defined the boot since its British launch in
1960. Originally worn as a practical work boot, Dr.
Martens was adopted by successive waves of youth
subculture — skinheads, punks, goths, grunge — before
becoming a mainstream fashion staple that has outlasted
every trend that embraced it.
The 1460 eight-hole boot and 1461 shoe are the originals
around which the whole range is built, but Dr. Martens
now produces an extensive collection including platform
versions, Chelsea boots, sandals, loafers, and a growing
range of collaborations with designers and artists.
The Originals range uses the same Airwair sole that has
been manufactured in Northampton since the 1960s;
the Made in England collection represents the finest
expression of the brand, using premium leathers and
traditional construction techniques in the original
factory. Dr. Martens ships internationally from its
UK website and runs regular sales with meaningful
reductions, particularly on core styles in less
popular colours and limited sizes.
